We are one body. This is never more true than within Children’s Ministry. We seek to integrate our children into all aspects of church life. We are a covenant family—not just a collection of individual families—and we value all members of our family. We believe that one of the best ways children can learn more about their Creator and King, and grow in their worship of Him is for them to have a front-row seat in both ministry and worship.
At Redeemer, it is our earnest desire that all children who pass through our doors may hear about and set their hope in God. We are aware of the many challenges children face in our culture—with tragedy, advantage, loss and affluence. Our desire is that through the ups and downs of their lives, their souls would discover the rest found only with knowing and honoring their Creator and King. We long for them to learn to extend this hope to others.
Psalm 78 drives our hearts as we seek to equip families and children to love and serve God.
We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;
Ultimately, we see the family as the primary vehicle in which these stories are passed down. Therefore, our emphasis at Redeemer is on equipping parents for this work of training their children and nourishing their souls.
We currently do all of these things in many ways.
Sunday Morning Worship: We love having children of all ages with us in our corporate worship and we encourage parents to begin bringing their children to worship with them at a young age. We believe they are just as much a part of the family of God as are adults and therefore we would miss their presence in the Worship Service much like you would miss a family member not joining you at the dinner table. We also believe children learn so much from seeing worship firsthand.
Sunday Morning Nursery/Preschool: We offer childcare all morning for children from birth through age 4. Three- and four-year-olds also engage in interactive Bible learning during the Equipping Hour.
Sunday Morning Elementary Classes: Investigating God’s Word is a comprehensive curriculum that takes children through all of the Bible, aimed at giving children tools for and encouragement from God’s Word.
Sunday Morning Parenting Classes: Offered on a quarterly basis during the Equipping Hour.
Midweek Kid’s Choir: A time for your children to connect with other children worshipping God with song during Kid’s Choir.
Summer Camp: A one-week "Bible School" style camp held in the summer gives children a chance to explore God’s mission through other countries and cultures.
Worship Training/Practice: Periodic gatherings held to give children an understanding of what takes place during corporate worship and allow them to practice with their peers and parents.
Special Events: Fall Festival, Parent’s Night Out, and Family Movie Night.
